are K&N air filters really worth it?

well i need a new air filter really bad for my s10.

so should i spend 10$ on the normal filter...or go all out on the 40$ k&n ??

supposedly you never have to buy another air filter, just clean them?

anyone's thoughts?

yes, you can clean and re-oil them and use them again...plus the cleaning interval is like 50,000 miles or something...

depends on the kind of driving you do. If its a lot of stop and go chances are anything you'd see preformance wise from a k&n will be negligable.

also if you see a lot of dust I'd say dont do a k&n just because they let some of those particles through because of the hgih airflowand can cause some problems in the long run to your system.

I stuck one on my V6 S10, made no difference peformance wise that I could tell, might be good for a couple hp if anything. The K&Ns are certainly beefier than a normal filter though. I have cleaned mine a few times already and it is holding up well.

There is no power gains, and sometimes loss of low end torque.

Also, they let a lot of junk in.

Use normal air filters. Your engine will thank you.
