the US spent 10+ yrs and $BILLIONS$ on training Iraq police and military.
Those brief periods of cooperation to buttress colonialism pale compared to historical facts.Over the years, Sunni–Shia relations have been marked by both cooperation and conflict. Sectarian violence persists to this day from Pakistan to Yemen and is a major element of friction throughout the Middle East.[5][6] Tensions between communities have intensified during power struggles, such as the Bahraini uprising, the Iraq War, and most recently the Syrian Civil War
Iraq-
Some of the worst sectarian strife ever has occurred after the start of the Iraq War, steadily building up to present
Egypt-
Almost all of Egypt's Muslims are Sunni,[102] but the Syrian Civil War has brought on an increase in anti-Shia rhetoric,[103] and what Human Rights Watch states is "anti-Shia hate speech by Salafis"
Pakistan-
Until recently Shia–Sunni relations have been cordial, and majority of people of both sects participated in the creation the state of Pakistan in 1940s
Lebanon-
Though sectarian tensions in Lebanon were at their height during the Lebanese Civil War, the Shia–Sunni relations were not the main conflict of the war.
United States-
In late 2006 or early 2007, in what journalist Seymour Hersh called The Redirection, the United States changed its policy in the Muslim world, shifting its support from the Shia to the Sunni, with the goal of "containing" Iran and as a by-product bolstering Sunni extremist groups

What was your story again?
How did you become an expert on Islam?

If I recall correctly. The US invaded Iraq over weapon of mass destruction, and al Qaeda was an American creation well after the invasion. IMHO, it wasn't about bring freedom to the poor uneducated Iraqis. They dont really want to be free. If you are not willing to fight and die for freedom, then you dont deserve it. Iraq was a fools errand. When Congress voted to approve the war in Iraq, I sat in my kitchen and I told my wife that as soon as our troops get involved over there that the terrorists will climb out of the woodwork just like cock roaches. Not one more dollar or drop of American Blood should be spilled over there. Bush and his kindler gentler war has been a total failure. The worst part is the idiots like McCain and even a lot of Democrats voted for the war. I think we should round up everyone that voted for this war and hang the lot of them as traitors.
People get along fine until they don't. And one constant since death of prophet is sec plays a pivotal role when they don't. If you read the diplomatic cables there is fundamental long standing distrust up to highest levels. So the opposite of what the wiki says.
Ya, I dunno... I worked with for several years in a workshop with all the different branches of Islam, Hindus, Christians, and we all had a great time together.
I could look outside my apartment window and watch the Burka moms chatting it up with the with the Hijab moms and the normal dressed moms and Hindu moms while their children played together
Maybe I just live in a magical land where people get along

One interesting thing I observed working in Saudi was Americans are treated better in Saudi than Muslim from say Indonesia who are virtual slaves. This is the so-called most radical of them all. So yeah ppl can get along.
They aren't cowards, they simply have nothing to fight for or anything that is worth being killed over.
2016 Jeb Bush is elected president, 2017 We re-invade iraq to stop terrorism.
Actually, yea, for the most part they are. We fought side by side with them, and there isn't a one I found that I would trust to have my back.
You have to want to fight for something. This is why our military indoctrinates "freedom" and Constitution meme into our soldiers all the time.
You mean the guys that joined up because they needed something to eat and a roof, maybe a light bulb or two when the power was on
Or the ones that knew when the US left this shit was going to happen and they were going to be on their own
Maybe they heard about the Iraqis GHWB told to rise up and then abandoned to the slaughter
Nothing against you and your service, it takes a brave man to join up, even when you got the most powerful force in the world backing you up

We could barely get half if them to open there eyes when they were firing their weapon, those that would are usually the ones that one night would just decide to bounce, taking as manny guns as they could care with them.
You can try to dress it up however you feel you need to to make yourself feel better, but reality is much different.

It is hard for me to imagine a whole country of cowards.
Correct, the stated purpose of the invasion was to rid Iraq of weapons of mass destruction. Bush and others did portray us as "liberating" the Iraqi people from the iron grip of Saddam and I think he believed they'd welcome us with open arms. I think most of us knew that wouldn't happen.
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "al Qaeda was an American creation well after the invasion." What I assume you mean is that when the US invaded and found no weapons of mass destruction, THEN Bush started hinting at an alleged Saddam-Al Qaeda link. I think all but the most ignorant people saw through that BS, as Saddam HATED Al Qaeda and Al Qaeda HATED Saddam. I worked with a guy who fell for that hook, line, and sinker and went around telling everyone that Saddam was funding and supporting Al Qaeda. I corrected him multiple times.
What you have never heard of France. JK.
The AQ connections were being made before the invasion

When they were fighting the Iranians for some reason they could shoot
It is hard for me to imagine a whole country of cowards.
Especially a country that has been through what Iraq has
I would think there are kids in Iraq with ten times the size of balls then a lot of men from a place like America
This.
I can't think of much that mitigates that shameful ratio. That's beyond appalling.
sounds like an opportunity for the cia to install a strongman
