After doing some research, almost all i850-based s423 boards used 6-layers except for the MSI 850 Pro5, which found a workaround in using 4-layers instead. However, I'm more interested in the Intel i850/i850e s478 boards and I can't find any infomation regarding this. According to the Intel i850/i850e Design Guide, 6-layer is the reference for ATX while 4-layers is for mATX boards.
Now, I guess the question can be rephrased as, "Does Intel follow it's own guidelines?". I know it wouldn't make sense if they didn't but how can one be so sure? 🙂
