Are they? My school is holding one for a company I am really interested in. But do they really matter? I mean, could I realy get an interview just by going to one? I would go, with out question. However, I have work during that time. You think it is worth reschedualing work for this?

yes, because usually the same people giving info sessions are the ones casting the interviews that day/week.. so if you can make a good impression at info sesions it can only help

yes, but they can also hurt you. if you ask stupid questions (yes, there are stupid questions), then they will write you off immediately. make sure you do your homework before going there.

not only are there stupid questions, but you can ask good questions at stupid times. don't ask complicated questions until you are 1:1 with someone. only ask questions that everyone would want to know the answer to (like how many positions are you hiring, what locations, etc), not strategic questions like "why haven't you moved into the asian market yet".

Went to the info session for my current employer (few years ago) and actually saw a guy I knew in college. He invited me to dinner/drinks with the rest of the recruiters and I guess I made a good impression. Got a great position and have been here for a while.
