Edit: I'm only saying they aren't poisonous because I had one and was bit by it. I never had an adverse reaction to it. But I googled it and some apparently are?

I don't think venom is dangerous if you eat it, assuming you don't have any ulcers or other damage in your digestive tract; to my knowledge, venom is only dangerous if it gets in your blood or eyes.

Not really. Try eating some Pufferfish that hasn't been prepared properly and see what happens

They're all over the place here in Grand Cayman. They get pretty big and most look like they have a good amount of meat on them. Maybe I'll scout around and see if any local spot here cooks them.

If you ingest it, it ends up in your bloodstream does it not? Is that not how medicine works?

I could see how if the venom were a large protein, it would just get digested by the stomach enzymes while not having any appreciable permeability across the gut lining, thus trapping it inside the lumen of your digestive tract to be sliced and diced at leisure by proteases. So yeah, a lot of it would end up in your bloodstream, but not in the venom form but as amino acids.
