Are IDE Raid cards from 3ware or Adaptec supported in XP?

I'm interested in setting up a RAID 1 2 drive array and wanted to invest in either the 3ware 6200 or 7000 series if necessary or even go with an Adaptec 1200A. Are any of these supported/work in Win XP

Dont know...the 3ware are what I think are the best IDE RAID cards in the world.

They are fully supported in Linux.

And they are ACTUALLY fully hardware based, so my guess is that they will be supported in XP too.

You can try here:

XP Public Newsgroups

and see under hardware and see if someone has posted your same question. I swear I saw an HCL for XP, but I cannot seem to locate it now.

Another semi-safe assumption is that if you can make it work in Win2k, you can make it work in XP.

Cheers :)

WinXP HCL.

Just cause something isn't on the HCL doesn't mean it won't work, it just hasn't been tested by MS.

The Promise SuperTrak and the Adaptec AAA-UDMA are both hardware based RAID cards (cost $300). The promise card uses the i960 chip and should be compatible with every OS alive because it's the same chip used in the SCSI RAID cards.

Thanks for the responses fellas. Someone on storagereview has informed me that the card does indeed work flawlessly with the win2k drivers.
