Are IBM Model M keyboards water resistant?

It's currently drying in the sink. I wasn't typing on the affected region (numpad) at the time. It's a pre-Lexmark keyobard from 1989.

Throw in more water. :p

I kid, I kid!

You might need to let it to dry. If it doesn't work then go out and buy a new one.

I don't mind the keyboard I'm on now so I'll give it all weekend. I got it unplugged immediately too, so I don't think it shorted out during the incident.

Stick the edges of paper towells inbetween the rows every once in awhile to speed things up.

Flip it upside down so the water leaks through the keys instead of through all the circuitry.

That's what I hope. It seems like there is some sort of drain to the back right corner so I have it tipped that direction right now.

Glad it worked.

Kim Komando suggested putting a keyboard in the dishwasher to clean it in her column in the newspaper a few weeks ago. (Top rack, china setting, no heat cycle)

Good thing it was water, and that it's an old keyboard. You just want it to dry b4 using again.
Might dry even faster if it is in the sun (upside down).
