Are hybrid SSD/HDD worth it?

I've seen traditional rotating disk HDDs that have some SSD storage space on them to supposedly help speed. I'm curious if they are worth it - if the SSD really adds much to performance. A long time ago I remember HDD makers adding cache memory to the drives to improve performance, but don't think it ever helped very much.

Thanks!

You could read my thread in the the forum, it was just posted recently.

Summary: If you are constrained by number of SATA ports or drive bays, or budget and still need a good amount of storage, then they can work well. I still recommend a separate SSD drive for OS and programs, and a HDD for data and movies, if you can afford it.

Edit: Do the math. $60 for a 120GB OS SSD, plus $50-60 for a 1TB HDD, as compared to $100-120 for a 2TB Seagate 7200RPM 8GB MLC SSHD.
