are hitachi SATA hard drives reliable?

Just wondering about Hitachi hard drive quality - specifically SATA drives.

I've always used seagate so I'm not familiar with other brands. And a friend of mine is selling his Hitachi and I need another SATA drive...

They seem slower to me but what do I know?

Reliability should be as good as any other hard disk. If there was a problem (GXP ring a bell?) sure we'd be hearing about it now.

EDIT:

The slower part. Let me reiterate - specifically the 82GB SATA model. I have a 500GB PATA 16MB buffer model and it flies although I'm just using it as storage.
