Are HDTVs going to get cheap or expensive come this May

I'm curious what ya'll think. With everyone being given 600 bucks and being told to spend it, do you think there'll be a bunch of good HDTV sales, or are prices going to get jacked up in the short term because of it? I'm trying to get my hands on a 1080p DLP or LCD TV for cheap, so I was thinking maybe I should wait a few months.

Any thoughts?

No not everyone. The rebate is equivalent to your net income tax liability provided you made over $3000 in income in 2007. $600 is simply the max and $300 is simply the min.

Couples get $1200 and $300 more for each kid under 17

Well I doubt prices will go up if that's what your asking. But I also doubt you will see deals just because people are being given money.

You don't think it's possible the big chains are going to hold "SPEND YOUR REBATE HERE HERE HERE" sales when they know every customer potentially is walking around with at least 600 bucks they've been told by the government to blow on TVs and such?

I'd like to think it'll happen, at least.

prices won't go up per say, but you won't see as many sales. You'll get the "As Advertised" pitches, which just mean the picture was in an ad. As much as everyone likes to rip on the big box retailers (BBY CC come to mind), there's a reason why they are called big box, they make a crap ton of money so you can bet they will do everything they can to make more money off people who should probably be saving it.

There are sales to be had now if you look. The new Samsung's will be out soon, that means you can find deals like this.
At those prices though, they might not last until May.

Sheeit, people are going to need that money just to pay for gas and groceries. But if you think about it, the way the economy looks to be going the prices might drop because people won't have the spare cash to spend on TV's and the like so the prices might come down just so the retailers can sell them.

The price will go up once the value of toilet paper is greater than the dollar. One dollar will equal one sheet of toilet paper. People will pay for everything with toilet paper. Even the price of gold will pale in comparison to toilet paper. The world stock markets will revert to the toilet paper standard. Your new HDTV will cost about the same as now, but you will need rolls of toilet paper to pay for it. Does this answer your question?

If this is too confusing for you to figure out, buy your HDTV now, and stock up on toilet paper!
