ok, thanks for clarifying that. some of the news stories just said "month of Ramadan" which made it sound like a much longer time period

Yeah, in the Dearborn schools EID falls on the 13th of this month this year. So next Thursday and Friday, school is out. Hajj falls on the 19th of December this year so they simply break for "winter recess" on the 19th. These are the only 2 holidays that are observed as far as the schools here are concerned. They also have MLK day off as well as the standard Christian holidays. It seems fair and hardly anyone ever complains.

You might want to mention that Ramadan is a moving holiday that can be in the middle of summer as well as the middle of winter.

theres no way they should acknowledge ramadan. if your kid can't even not eat for one day without help, then well maybe your religion is kind of weak:p temptation is everywhere, restaurants don't close, food ads don't go away. so just deal with it. if you don't want to eat, just don't eat:p

Very original of you to attack Islam. The more crap you post the more it shows the bigotry thats inside of you.

That intersection is actually booming right now with the new Fairlane Green mall. Looks much better than the old VA building that was there forever. It is a traffic nightmare now though.

Just eliminate all days off due to any type of recognition/religious/holiday reasons - then no one is happy which means you've done a good job compromising!

I would think that it would only be insensitive if people dressed up as bin Laden or something.

Fuck that. Either you go the American way or your own way.

When Islam/Muslim becomes more of an influence to American culture, then we'll see some changes.
