And boy, have I had fun playing Starfox, Mario 64, and TLOZ:TOOT, among other games. Is it just that the nostalgia makes the games more fun, or is the quality of games simply declining?
I think companies are just so graphics/physics/technology based that they can't possibly have the energy or resources to focus on producing new concepts for games, and that from a cost/benefit/risk standpoint, producing yet another FPS with a slightly updated engine *cougheagamescough* is probably more profitable than taking a risk on a new idea.
I seriously haven't played anything as good as TOOT, Starfox, or even SMB3 (which, imo, is one of the best games of all time) in the past couple of years.
