Are floor safes really heavy?

I want to buy on maybe the size of a minifridge... is this something that I can throw in my car, or takes a truck and a few guys?

edit: hmmm..... maybe some other type of locking storage, a safe seems too bulky for moving into a dorm room?

Remember that if you can move it (or a couple guys can move it), so can thieves.

Not without a sawzall if it's bolted to the floor.

That's why I have a tow strap.

You fools, any safe you buy and install in your home can be Italian Jobed.

Some are. I've actually moved (with help) a floor safe weighing upwards of 1000 lbs. My back hasn't been right since...

I know a couple that built a house. They installed a safe (probably weighed at least 1000 pounds) on the second floor during construction...with a crane. The idea was that it being on the second floor, not only would it be convenient (stored the wife's jewelry), but there's no frigging way someone could carry it down a curved staircase. Oh, and the frame of the house was steel? around that section, so the safe was bolted into the frame on the bottom, back, and on one side.
