I put a filter on all my intake fans.
(my computers are in a dusty enviroment)

They don't completely eliminate the dust
but reduce it a great deal.

I use the metal ones because I can
just vacuum them off when they start
accumulating junk on them.
You half to wash the plastic/foam ones.

I prefer the plastic and foam. The do help reduce dust and will help keep your radiator clean if you watercool.

I tape a used dryer sheet over the intake slots on my Enlight 7327. Works like a charm.

Judging from the amount of dust and crud I brush off the foam filters over my intake fans every couple of weeks I would say, "yes, filters are a good thing."

filters are the cheapest insurance you can buy for your
goodies, the foam are washable and can double as a grill

Yea I use a filter so that dust won't go in. The filter really does catch quite a bit of dust. The inside of the case is noticeably cleaner wtih it

I use the foam ones and am really surprised at how fast the filter starts to get dirty. Shows how much crud is in the air.
