I mean are they admissible in court? Btw, is a thermal fax more legal than a laser fax? Somebody told me that and I wasn't so sure hence the question.

Thanks!

I wouls say probably not since there is no guarantee the receiving fax machine had paper or ink or was functioning 100% when your fax arrived.

In genral a fax is considered to be a legal document in the sense that a faxed signature is binding on some contracts (as opposed to an e-mail for example) however we would need more specific information regarding the circumstances involved in order to answer this question.

I've never heard anything about the method used to print out a fax having any bearing, although thermal faxs are often much harder to read.

I spoke to a patrol sargeant about fax confirmations, and he said that there is no legal precidence for their appearance in court (no standard), and it would be rather easily argued in court that the document could be falsified, so he did not believe it could be used in court.

No idea about if one is more legal than another depending upon how they are printed, but it's kind of a moot point.
