I got in on a great Buy.com / GCO deal on the Fantom Titanium II 250 GB external hard drive.
Been reading some threads on some deals forums about some people saying they are unreliable, and even one person saying he opened his up and found an MDT hard drive (he said this company sells remanufactured hard drives).
When it gets here, I am going to do a complete format to check for bad sectors. Any other tests I should run?
And how reliable, long term, are these drives. I was planning on hooking it up to my dad's Intel iMac and use it for video storage (iMovie), so I would prefer it not fail sometime in the future when he has loaded it up with projects.
