Are evga boards still a valid choice for CF setups?

First post, sorry for a blank profile...

So I'm building a 1366 water cooling setup, and I can easily get water blocks for several evga boards; I was specifically looking at the x58 ftw3. The only issue is, I'm not running a SLI setup, I will be doing 2x5870's in CF. My oither components are adequate, I just need some mb advice.

x58 supports CF inherently, no? I could theoretically get this board and still be successful in what I'm trying to achieve? Thanks!

Yes, no problems running CF on EVGA kit. If you read a couple of threads on their forum I'm sure you will come across a few people do so.

EVGA being THE premier nVidia AIB partner tend not to publicise much in the way of ATI compatibility but that doesn't mean it doesn't work!

Sounds like you're building a pretty sweet system. Enjoy :)

PS. Welcome to the forum!

Nice name and welcome to the forums.

Well lately i have seen a few people knocking evga mobo's for not having the latest features as soon as everyone else(SATA 3, USB 3) They are a solid company and have great customer service, i would not hesitate to buy from them. And they are fully ATI CF compatible.

Looks like a nice system, post some specs when you are done, do you plan to overclock?

OCGuy I think it's :(

Since that is an nVidia board with an nVidia SPP (northbridge) then I think there is no compatability. When I had my 750i FTW I ran SLI on it and I was under that impression anyway.

Absolutely! Wouldn't want to let a water cooling setup go to waste on stock! Going to fire the system stock before I start adding the water blocks and just make sure that everything is kosher on stock speeds before I start pushing it.

Thanks everyone for the advice!

Good plan. I always build my rigs quickly on cardboard to do the OS install before I go to the trouble of putting them in a case.

^= sarcasm? nvidia chipset vs. intel chipset... would be nice, tho... the ftw seems to be a lackluster performer in sli with 2 9800gt's for me, but it's been a solid runner for me overall...
