Are elitist white liberals (including Obama) trying to hurt blacks?

Consider: Minimum wage laws.

Consider: The war on drugs, which many white liberals support (Billary Clinton, for example).

Consider: Planned Parenthood which constantly targets black people in inner-city neighborhoods.

Consider: That LBJ probably pushed for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to lure blacks to the Democratic Party.

Consider: All the regulations that liberals push for that drive the cost of things up and and fail to make us safer.

Are white liberals really trying to help blacks? Or are white liberals the root of Black Americans' problems? I think the latter is probably true.

The problem is that the system rewards people who push out children, gives them nothing but a check, and is completely resistant to substantial changes because of the race card. I disagree with the OP premise here too about LBJ. I'm just saying that the program became something other than intended. I think LBJ (bastard though he was) would be dismayed with how things have turned out. Instead of supporting education, job training and opportunity, we throw bones. Granted it's easier, and people won't get pissed of they can stay on their couch, but it's not what this country needs.

We DO need a social safety network. There are some in this forum who have had to use it because their needs went beyond their resources through no fault of their own. I don't want to see that go away, but I'm not content with a system which takes away from education to support those who abuse the system, and dealing with it every day, it's a significant problem, yet no one (republican or democrat) has any intention of addressing the issue. They are afraid to do so.

Seriously the middle class and the poor, white and black, have taken a big hit over the last 30 years. You know during the Reagan Era.

BTW, do you really see afro-americans getting the vote via the Civil Rights Act as a negative for them?
