Are Eagles under the salery cap??

Well i wnt to the game sunday and boy were they horrible. They really need a receiver and a linebacker who can stop the run. How is there salery cap at the moment and if they cut staley and sell off pinkstons contract could they pick up a reciever and backer??? But who's gonna want pinkston after his award winning performance Sunday

I'd say the Eagles window of opportunity is closed. Their Division will get better next year..and I don't think they will be able to compete with Dallas for the divisional title next season. It doesn't matter who they get for next year, as they will most likely miss the playoffs. Start rebuilding.

They have plenty of cap room

From Len Pasquarelli

Clearly, this is a team with tons of cap room, as usual. Philadelphia has only about $60.5 million committed to its '04 roster, not counting qualifying offers the club will make to some veterans, and Donovan McNabb ($8.9 million) and right offensive tackle Jon Runyan ($5.5 million) are the only guys with salary cap charges of more than $3 million for next year. But it is the veterans who aren't on the 2004 cap who could be worrisome. Both starting cornerbacks, Troy Vincent and Bobby Taylor, are eligible for unrestricted free agency. Strong-side linebacker Carlos Emmons, who finished the season on injured reserve and definitely was missed on Sunday, also can hit the open market. Tailback Duce Staley, who missed all of training camp last summer in a salary dispute, will be pursued in free agency by teams like Dallas and Washington, you can bet.

It'd be nice to see Deuce in a Cowboys uniform next year 🙂 Although I don't see that happening. Keyshawn is available though, I'm sure he's going to be a hot commodity.

Staley, Taylor and Vincent are all free agents and probably aren't coming back. It would be nice if they used some of their money to get someone who can catch the ball or help out with run stopping.
They started the season with two losses, had plenty of injuries but still got the number one seed for the playoffs. Yeah, they got their butts kicked but they did and have done a lot better than the teams that I root for here in NY.

The Eagles are a great team no doubt - honestly probably one of the best teams in NFL - its just clutch/big game performances are their achilles heel. They might not ever get past the hump.

I am a Cowboys fan and have seen the Iggles beat us up a lot the last few years. They are a good team but their flaws are QB and WR. I think Donovan is a great leader and improviser, but to quote Rick Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News, he "has the strongest arm but least accuracy of the remaining four playoff QB's." Reports are that Reid and the Philly staff are scrapping the West Coast offensive philosophy because Donovan is not a timing QB. He's gotta run around to be productive. It doesn't help that he has pedestrian wide receivers which forces him to play dink and dunk with Staley, Westbrook, and Buckhalter. Philly needs to draft some WR high and improve their defensive line against the run and they can make it to the SB.

The Eagles need some home run hitters at WR...I'm curious if they are looking at T.O. seriously. His value is artificially low right now with his personality issues and a bad season...but the guy is one of the top five WR in the game if not the best (which is arguable with Mr. Moss in the league).

I know people are concerned with his attitude...but I'll be honest...I think he is just tired of playing with Garcia. I'm a niners fan and I can say T.O. is not SF's problem, Garcia is SF's problem. I watch all SF's games and my uncle has niners season tickets, one of the major things we noticed is how often Garcia misses wide open receivers, particularly TO, who, last time I checked, is their #1 option in the pssing attack. I know, Garcia been to Pro Bowls, but I think he is way overrated.

TO gets open all the time and Garcia doesn't throw him the ball. Now, it works both ways, because TO has dropped some great throws from Garcia that any receiver in the league should catch. But it gets upsetting when your supposed to the #1 option and your getting open all day and Garcia is throwing to the outlet route. And this is the first year in a long time that TO has dropped big play balls...he has been very sure handed most all of his career and has been known for making circus catches look routine.

My uncle commented on how much TO gets open, even against double coverage, and said it is really evident when your at the game (because the camera's follow the ball, not an open receiver). Actually, my uncle said people in the standsoften start talking about it and have actually booed Garcia because he can't find receivers down field.

Anyhow, I want to see TO on another team for his sake...the guy deserves a better QB and I think that team will him re-assert himself and play to his capability.

I also think Philly should look at drafting Lee Evans, the WR from Wisconsin.

I think, right now, is stock isn't so high that he'll be snatched before the eagles have a chance to get him. The guy is incredible, he is really fast (a true low 4.3, not a hand timed 4.3) and very strong (5'11" 205lbs). He really runs after the catch like a running back...kinda like Steve Smith of the Panthers.

But Wisconsin isn't known for the passing game and there is a lot of talent at WR in the upcoming draft so maybe Lee will be around late in the first round. But his pro trials work out could change all that, of course.

On the note of 40 yard dash times...I only believe the times that they post at the pro trials because every one runs under similar conditions with automated timing. This year it seemed like ever skill position player starting for any major team has 4.3 or under time. Well, that's bullsh1t. Deion Sanders, who has world class sprint speed (ran a 10.03 hundred meter dash and could've run faster if he stopped paying football), posted a 4.15 40 yard at the pro trials which is one of fastest time ever posted. None of these guys in college are even close at as fast as Deion. At 4.2, you have the speed to make angles disappear in the Pro's...the only people I have ever seen do that on a consistent basis are Deion and Darrell Green.
