Are "dying family member" threads too personal for AT?

first of all i dont mean any disrespect for anyone who has posted a thread like this before and i offer my sympathies, but i just dont think that AT would be the place i would go to talk about those type of things

For some people this place is a large part of their support group. For some maybe their ONLY support group.

People don't have to click on and read those threads.

Yup....everyone has to grieve in their own way.

well i guess that i just feel really bad for a person who has all of their support come from an internet forum. i know that i couldnt get by with that

Yea but the important part is that they have some semblance of support. So many people who dont turn into psychological nightmares...

Hey, if it helps makes a person feel better then I am all for it.

I've never posted about a family death or dying member here other than my cousin who died at the age of 39(he was older than me when he died but I am older than that now... we were very close in age). I was mostly upset at my cousin for leaving us like he did... not suicide but close... drug overdose. 🙁

If a person doesn't want to comment or reply that is their option.

If lots of people respond then its obviously the place for it.
At least those threads are a lot deeper and more interesting then the usual crap.

Depends on the member...why do you ask?

Edit-What I mean by that is, how well do you know some of these people? Personally, I would probably reach out to the friends I've made here. Someone who has only been here a short time probably would not find much satisfaction in doing so.
