Are drill motors OK in a computer

Or does the elctric moter mess things up

I saw a portable drill motor commercial, and they put it in a computer. Even if it is i'll stick with a good ol' #1 philips head screwdriver.

Sure, but eventually you're going to want to overclock it - or replace it with a lawnmower engine.

I must admit: When I read this thread title, I literally said "WTF?!" out loud.

Now that I've read the post, I understand that you have a technical question of sorts.

Wrong forum.

But that's OK. Here goes. All motors operate on magnetism and electricity. Bringing either one in close proximity to computer components is not a good idea.

But, a small, handheld cordless drill/driver won't hurt anything. I wouldn't hold a stick of memory against the drill and run it on high, but just for removing screws, it's not a big deal.

NEXT WEEK ON COMPUTING TODAY - Is it OK to take my laptop swimming with me? I really don't want to miss any important IMs...

I'm guessing you mean for working on computers? Most people don't use them b/c if you slip with a power screwdriver you pretty much #&^&ed up your PC.

They can speed up multiple system assembly though esp. when putting in CDD and HDD screws.

You might want to turn the computer off while doing this. Electric drills chuck off pretty good EM interference, nothing as bad as electric razors but still probably not the best thing inside a running computer.
