I need some new shoes for work and have been looking for a while now. My girlfriend insist that I get some Dr. Martens, but I'm not sure I want to drop a C-note on a pair of these things?

They suck as work boots. Timbos and the like are better. For show they are good.

Been wearing mine to school, work, play for the last 9 years before I retired them.

I still have them as "backups".

At $100, one of the best investments I've made for my feet :D

I've had my Doc's for about 6 or 7 years, and they still look great. Of course I don't wear them as work shoes, either.

Yeah, as long as you take a little care of them, they last and last.

They kind if suck as far as durability. I have a pair of steel toe Docs, and the toe is all chiped and scuffed. I keep them oiled up with mink oil, so they still look good, but if you look close, you can see the knicks. I kind of think it's due to the steel toe, because the rest of the shoe is fine.

But they're SO COMFORTABLE. I love mine for standing around in the lab all day.

You can always check Ebay for them, one of my buddies has gotten several pair that way and apparently they're real and not fakes.

The only reason I think they suck as work boots are because the soles are made of hard plastic they slip all over wet floors. Hell, the were the British equivalent of Timberlands forever. They do last but the wrong fit will destroy your feet. If I was doing construction or anything I think Timberlands would be more comfortable and less slippery. Plus you can beat the crap out of Timbos and not really care. Docs look best when all shiny.

Not very good as work boots. Timberland steel toe is better.
As all day walking shoes they are great (Non steel toe).
