Are dell monitors just rebagged sonys?

Well, some definitely are. I went on an engineering challenge (which we won🙂 to my local Sony factory which builds monitors and badges them as Sony, they even had Dell boxes there.
 
I have a Dell P1110 which should be a rebadged G500. It is a damn fine monitor.
 
Yeah, i am able to get some really good deals on those monitors and they are much cheaper than actual sonys. I am wondering if i should upgrade my monitor. I have a 753DF and can see it flickering at all resolution rates, and am not happy with it at all. I even went to the doctor about it to make sure it wasnt a brain tumor or something and he said i just have unbelevably senative eyes. Would you recomend upgrading to the 19 or 21 inch monitor. I work around my monitor at like 2 or 3 feet away. Would 21 inch be too big? and would it be worth the extra $250 to go with the 21inch?
 
I bought a P991 about 2 months ago. It's a great monitor and yes it a rebranded Sony. If you get one of the Dell monitors with the Trinatron(sp) tube it's a rebranded Sony. I don't know if dells lower end monitors are made by Sony though.

Actually, when you buy a Dell monitor, they differentiate between standard and "Trinitron" models. The Trinitron models are the ones that are rebadged Sonys.
 
Dell, like Compaq and Gateway etc. use a variety of OEM manufacturers so it is very difficult to tell whom the actual manufacturer is. This is very common in the industry. Just because a monitor uses a Trinitron CRT does not mean the monitor was manufactured by Sony. Even Sony uses OEMs for some of their models. KDS for example uses Sony FD Trinitron CRT?s.
