Howdy,
Spoke with a collegue of mine in DC, she and several coworkers are helping at the Pentagon in the wake of last week's aftermath. Spoke with her on the phone, here's her email quote:

--------
"Just as a point of trivia..I do know that we are helping with disaster relief at the Pentagon and we asked Dell if they were willing to help with equipment and they said no:-("
--------

On the phone she said that most of the systems at the Pentagon they encountered so far were designed and implemented by Lockheed-Martin, on Dell hardware. When they contacted Lockheed-Martin and Dell for help, all they got was red tape and representatives and managers saying "We'll help you only if you give us a P.O. number first, or a credit card number."

In the end, her company ended up paying for computers OUT OF THEIR OWN POCKET to help the Pentagon, because DELL AND LOCKHEED-MARTIN would not help.

Why am I writing this? Look at Dell's webpage www.dell.com and they claim they're helping with the tragedy.

If anyone knows of any confirmed stories about Dell actually helping, let me know.

Is your friend's company being paid to restore software or repair computers?
I know nothing about the situation, but I don't think Dell should be automatically expected to provide free support to someone getting paid to straighten things out.

Well, maybe someone got mad at Dell. Yesterday, a TS guy at Dell told me that their entire network was down since the day before from a Virus. How ironic. Unfortunately, no TS for me the last two days.

I live near a Del plant in Tennessee. The local news has reported how Dell is expiditing servers to replace the ones lost. I will find a link.
