Are Dell flat panel displays considered the best?

Or do they just represent good value for the money?

I'm more interested in picture quality, rather than gaming performance.

Also, what is Dell's policy on dead / stuck pixels?

Just got a Dell 2005FPW and it is very good.

My only complaint is that Dell themselves were difficult to deal with, they took forever to deliver it - very inefficient process.

The monitor however is superb and excellent value for money.
As far as dead pixels go I don't know but my monitor is blemish free.

Picture quality are superb on the 8bit panels I heard.
I dunno the dead pixel policy...
The backlight breeding problem is quite common. But you can RMA it for that issue.

Forgotten to mention, you'll need DVI for optimal picture quality

They're defnitely not the best panels out there, but they are damn good and relatively cheap. I don't think you can find a better panel for the money.

How many people are getting dead / fixed pixels on their Dell flat panels?

Also, any major problems with the Dell 1905FP?

Yeah they fixed it in the newest A02 revision. But there are plenty of old A01 A00 monitors still in stock...

Blacklight bleeding problem

iirc its not the best LCD around but its a great value
the only LCD i would ONLY buy a Dell for is the 2001fp or 2005fpw, because they are just SO much cheaper than from other manufacturers using the EXACT SAME PANEL.
