Are current DDR RAM/motherboards less reliable than their SDR cousins?

It seems strange how many branded DDR modules are failing after several months in use. I've experienced this myself, with a Crucial DDR 256Mb module causing sudden reboots then reporting 128MB after 4 months.

Never have I had RAM die on me before, and I've got several computers hooked up in my house all non-DDR. At first I thought it was just one of those things, but suddenly an unusual amount of posts with exactly the same problem cropped up at once:

Thread 1
Thread 2
Thread 3
Thread 4
Thread 5
Thread 6
Thread 7
Thread 8

The dead RAM came from an Epox 8KHA+, and, being my main machine, I generally hang around in Epox forums so many problems I've seen with dying RAM relate to this board.

Since so many people use crucial and the 8KHA+ from where I post, the following threads CANNOT be used to make accusations towards any manufacturer of either RAM or motherboard about defective components. The number of people involved is simply too small

With the above in mind however, I'd like to see if others are experiencing DDR memory failing after several months in use like many people above.

Only with more info can any kind of conclusion be drawn if these failures are related to a motherboard or DDR design problem.

I sure hope not. I'm in the process of building a new pc with an epox 8kha+ and crucial ram...

More likely to be the Epox board as it's the common componant here - after all not every body has the same DDR memory, some have Crucial, Corsair, etc.

Guys, please don't blame Epox or have worries about buying their boards. The 8KHA+ sold extremely well, and those people with dead RAM are insignificant statistically in comparison. It would be slander to blame anyone at this early stage.

Also let me re-iterate my key point in bold above: my sources are mainly from Epox forums simply because that's where I hang out. All DDR systems might be experiencing a slightly higher RAM failure rate for all I know. The whole idea of this thread is to gather info from other sources.
