Are Creative DVD-ROMs flashable to region-free?

I have a PC-DVD 2x drive, and I just tried to use it for the first time to watch Saving Private Ryan. But my handy little Encore program tells me the regions don't match :p I have heard of some drives being flashable to region free - has anyone ever heard of Creatives being as such? And if they are, how?

is your drive a Creative labs DVD2240E (2X/20X). if it is then it should be already region free. suggest you get dvd genie to allow you to use that dvd! :)

That's exactly what it is....but it doesn't seem to be region free :( I'll try it again, but I don't know...

Oh yeah, BTW...I downloaded DVD Genie, but there's a catch - I am using a Dxr2, not any software decoders. According to the DVD Genie's feature list, it's for software players. And there's nothing in the config menu about Creative stuff....
