Are Creative DVD-ROMs flashable to region-free?

I have a PC-DVD 2x drive, and I just tried to use it for the first time to watch Saving Private Ryan. But my handy little Encore program tells me the regions don't match I have heard of some drives being flashable to region free - has anyone ever heard of Creatives being as such? And if they are, how?

is your drive a Creative labs DVD2240E (2X/20X). if it is then it should be already region free. suggest you get dvd genie to allow you to use that dvd!

That's exactly what it is....but it doesn't seem to be region free I'll try it again, but I don't know...

Oh yeah, BTW...I downloaded DVD Genie, but there's a catch - I am using a Dxr2, not any software decoders. According to the DVD Genie's feature list, it's for software players. And there's nothing in the config menu about Creative stuff....
