are cousins allowed to get married in China

i was watching this one HongKong movie and saw a lady getting married with her cousin and people (such as her relatives) dont seem to make a big deal out of that. it seems normal to them. so is that allowed in China?

Actually West Virginia prohibits marriage between cousins altogether.
While most people from California would be surprised to find out that its allowed in their state.

And No European countries prohibit it.
Canada and Mexico also don't prohibit it.

So, I wouldn't be surprised to find that China doesn't prohibit it as well.

maybe those were far cousins... the one i saw in the movie was like the lady got married with the son of her mother's twin. that s pretty close right?

as long as the cousin is not blood related, it's okay. i was wondering why my guy cousin was hitting on my lady cousin, asked my parents and they told me they were both cousins to each other but they weren't blood related. the chinese family structure is a lil different from the american structure. i'm not sure what exactly but i got a headache when someone tried to explain it to me.

In some countries, it doesn't matter who or what you marry. There's no state benefit for marriage so no one cares what you do.

You can marry an 8 year old, another person of the same sex, your sister or even your pet. You can have multiple wives or husbands. I can name one of them off the top of my head.

family is a bigger deal overseas, especially in asian cultures. Its legal here for 2nd or 3rd or whatever cousins to marry, and here you probably wouldn't even think of ourselves as related, but if you had been raised in an asian culture you would have known about those family ties for most of your life.

So its probably no different from here, its just being someone's third cousin is a closer relationship than it is over there.
