The most overpaid professions are where the employee doesn't provide the value they are supposed to return. These people are usually fired. Otherwise no profession is overpaid. Professional athletes, movie stars, investment bankers, etc all are paid what the market will bear. Yes, pro-athletes deserve the money, the demand for their talent is immense.

Nope. The market demands their talent. They are fairly paid.
 
Technically speaking no long lasting profession is overpaid since the economy stipulates thats how much their services are worth. The professions that are overpaid will cease to exist or will experience a pay decrease since people will no longer be willing to pay that price for such services.

Yes, but only in perfect labor market would that be true. Union regulations, bureaucratic protections, and even the concept of tenure all enable people who no longer perform their duties to continue being paid.

People like pro athletes or Britney Spears or whoever being overpaid says more about the public than it says about them.

In that case, I don't think so, since they may not be working 8hrs/day, everyday. Their income depends on how good they are and how many clients they have scheduled. They also tend to have education beyond college, and tend to be self-employed.
