Are Corvettes too good to be true?

I am having a debate with my friend about Corvettes. He can't come up with a good reason why he doesn't like the corvette. He says it handles too well, and is too fast, for the money.

Thoughts?

There is no denying that performance-wise, they are an amazing value.

Get an EVO and mod it a little and you will be smoking the Z06 to 60.

I would add my own thoughts, but that's exactly right. They're an incredible piece of machinery.

I agree.

I dare anyone to name another sports car that can be bought for the same $$$ as the vet and has the same performance. You can't.

I agree.

how does one say it's too good to be true when he agrees that it handles too well and it's too fast for the money.
I prefer Japanese/European vehicles over Domestics, but Corvette is a nice sports car for the money.

You will also be driving an ugly car.
The recent corvettes are really ugly to me, but the c6 is somewhat changing my attitude towards the vette.
While the performance is great for the money, they are also extremely common.

God not another "mod my car and it will smoke anything"

Seriously. They built a 7 second '81 Cadillac Fleetwood on Monster Garage last week.

I love rally too, but for the same amount of money, a corvette is king of the paved roads.

I wish they hire some guy from Audi to design their interiors, and hike the price the extra $1.57 per car it would cost to forego all that zoomy vinyl and plastic.

I also wish they looked a tad more distinctive on the outside.

Don't get me wrong, they are amazingly competent performance bargains, but . . .

I see a guy in a Corvette, I just wonder what color his girlfriend Donna's aging Camaro is, and what hair product she uses to get that "great big hair".

I think the z06 is an awesome sports car, great car for the money. But I agree on the interior sentiment which is one of the reasons I wouldn't buy one.

Ehhhh... once you get into mods it is a whole new ball game. Let me just say, however, that you arent going to see an EVO go 0-60 in under 2 seconds with DOT legal tires (without blowing your engine every ouple hundred miles, if that).

And you'll look like an idiot doing it in a Lancer[i/].

They are cheap.

They go like stink.

Can be fixed at any chevy dealer.

Chicks like them.

Apparently they just dont have the prestige of a Porsche. That is his argument. But...who said you had to compare the two. He thinks that since it performs better than straight-up 911 it should cost more, or it is a POS.

i dunno about that. a corvette is a pretty choice car to own. besides, you're probably more likely to have your porsche at the garage than you are to be driving it. i've heard they can be high maintenence.
