Are Checking Accounts FDIC insured?

Depends on the financial institution and type of checking account.

Credit Unions typically are typically not covered under FDIC, although they have their own through the NCUA.

If your checking account is in a money market, that won't be FDIC insured either.

:Q I always thought all 'bank accounts' were FDIC insured! Thanks for the info.
