All I can think of is Rick from Walking Dead. He's not exactly a convincing actor IMO.

There are great actors everywhere in every country.

For anyone who think American actors are inferior, go see some Broadway plays in NYC. There are some monster talent Broadway actors that will never get to act in a movie b/c they don't have the right agent or proper looks. It's a shame that acting isn't a meritocracy (see Keanu Reeves, Brad Pitt, etc). Its based on looks and who's dick you suck.

Well, English actors tend to be much better at American accents than vice versa.

But then you have to take into account that it's easier to learn to lower and generally flatten your voice than it is to learn to talk like a limey, snaggle-toothed, powdered-wig-wearing, pinky-flourishing fop.

Europeans in general, thought British and Germen the most, it seems, aren't so big on everyone looking perfect for a role, when it comes to making movies. Lots of actors and actresses look almost like regular people, with a lighting and makeup team behind them. That seems to be more of a rarity in the Americas (central and South American movies I've seen have had the same Hollywood-like perfection going on, just with more TnA hanging out).

Often times, it makes roles less believable (suspendable?), since the character shouldn't look like perfectly clean-cut, or be so charismatic, or whatever else, but that actor just is that way, and in particular, with popular ones, you already have an image of what the actor is like outside of the movie or TV show, before going in.

Or, at least, that's my take on it.

It's really a matter of difference in value system. Brits value acting talent more than looks. Hollywood is all about the packaging.
