are boxing day (America's black friday?) shoppers for real?

I know people who got up at 03:00 just to save $10 on DVD box sets after waiting a few hours in line.

I don't think it'd even be worth it for me to do it for $100 in sub-zero temperatures.

I should never underestimate how cheap people can be. I know a guy who eats at Wendys everyday just because they have a value meal that is $1 cheaper then similar ones at restaurants that are CLOSER to him (less gas) and this guy takes home double my pay and has half the amount of savings I do (which you think would be the other way around).

I love when cheap people end up spending more by being overly cheap in some manner 😛

I'll stand on line for a really good deal, like a $200 laptop or something...but I figure I can work for 2 hours at minimum wage and make more money than what I'm saving by standing on line for something stupid.

exactly.

You're thinking too rationally. I also was shocked at how much somebody will put themselves through to save a few bucks, but watching some of the black friday stories I noticed that some people _enjoy_ it. I saw one woman who had been there since god knows what early hour and said she likes the atmosphere. I don't personally enjoy the atmosphere of a crowded store of animals trying to grab merchandise, but I guess she did.

I would think that some of these people think that they are cool for standing in lineup, like they're hardcore or something.

None of you guys understand. Its just like poker, you want to have all your money in when you have a good hand...think percentages. I know that on Black Friday's everyone is dying to get that 29.99 dollar dvd player. Then when they dont get it they do incredibly stupid things (atmosphere). Therefore, they lose it and run people over or start a fight. Thats where I step in... I collect the settlement and then dont work for a year. Black Friday is like Christmas in November for me.

I think what you guys don't understand is that shopping can be a hobby for a lot of people.

Sure you buy stuff because you need it, but getting the best deal possible can become an addiction. Just ask RossMAN.

I'm guilty of it sometimes, but I figure that spending an extra hour or two out-and-about on my feet isn't going to kill me. Probably good excercise, if anything.
