Sounds stupid, I know, but I saw some reviews at Newegg mentioning that the "black" Antecs were more charcoal grey, causing a color mismatch with black drives. Are chieftecs the same?

IMO, they are. I have a Scorpio Full tower case, and its as black as you can get. My comparison black, is a Nintendo GameCube lol. So its about as black as that.

The Chietecs (Chenmings) do come in 2 Black colors. I would not trust the pics shown as the colors are often off, however, usually they would identify it as Charcoal and/or IBM if it wasn't deep black. Calling Newegg for descriptions on items is usually fruitless :(

My Antec is "black" but doesn't seem like it. I used to carry it around everywhere (taking to friend's for LAN), and now there's finger prints all over it. I tried washing away, but I think it's acids from my skin...

I used to have a charcoal grey/sorta black Enermax (Chieftec clone) and it wasn't quite...black. I had to order a replacement bezel for it once and they sent me the jet black one. So, I had a two tone case.. it looked silly. I noticed a lot of fingerprints and general...stuff.. would show up on the case as well. I wasn't too impressed with the paint job they did on the charcoal one.

I have a Chieftec "Dragon" tower that I ordered from newegg about 2 months ago. I got it for such a great price that I'm inclined to think it's a discontinued mode. (Specifically, it's a Chieftec DX-01DB.) At any rate, it's steel, doesn't have any up front USB ports and is most definitely black.

They used to term them as IBM Black and charcoal black. I used to have an IBM black one and it was truly black.
