Don't know about the US, but up here in Canada, banks are closed on Remembrance Day.

From http://www.bank-holidays.com/index.htm

Veteran's Day
Tuesday November 11 2008
(the date changes according to the year)
* Formerly Armistice Day, is a holiday observed on November 11 in honour of all those, living and dead, who served with U.S. armed forces in wartime. Armistice Day, the forerunner of Veterans Day, was proclaimed to commemorate the termination of World War I
**Banks, post office and governement close, but businesses, more and more, remain open, as well as universities.
