Are backup exclusions for time machine retroactive?

I forgot to add my azureus download folder to exclusions earlier and I just added it now. Will what I backed up earlier be deleted by my new setting? If not is there a way to manually remove it?

No.. it doesn't delete older versions.

Basically just open up your Time Machine drive, and go through each of the dates and delete that folder in each of the dates.

Or simply wait until the drive is full and Time Machine will prune for you.
