Generally yeah. I got some lifetime warrentee tires once and I had to deal with the manufacturer themselves, and even then I only got something like $50 off a new set. I stopped even trying.

No. About 3 months ago I bought new tires, a couple of weeks ago one of them went flat. I went back to the place and they replaces my tire free of charge. Saved me $180 because I bought a $8 warranty.

He's talking treadlife not road hazard. Road hazard warrenties are FTW, treadlife ones aren't suitable for toilet paper.

Wait, you mean there are tire companies that will warrant road hazard situations? For example, I bought nearly 20 tires because I kept blowing tires on potholes, and other stuff on the road. (Low profile tires on 17" rims...and yes, I drive a Civic.)

Are you saying that I can go to a straight tire dealer (Goodyear or something) and they will actually warranty these types of blowouts???

I haven't bought rims for my 06 Civic yet because I hate buying tires every few weeks. If I had a warranty, I might just go put some on my car this weekend.

Usually road hazard warrenties are offered by the installer (ie: Americas Tire Co.) whereas treadlife warrenties are offered by the tire manufacturer (ie: Goodyear). I got a new tire after having a 2" long piece of glass embed itself into my tire because of this.

So Costco offers this? I think there are a few in the NY/NJ area, I don't mind signing up with them.

Do they sell low profile tires at all? I will be looking for something like 225/40/18's...

From experience, you can't get road hazzard warranty on low-profiles. I had some on my spec V and found out the hard way.

I have 225/50/17's and Costco did not stock them.
Chances are they won't have yours either.
They can probably order them, but you wont save that much, if at all.
I bought mine at Pep Boys, got the warranty and it paid off.

Yeap, in my experience nobody road-hazards low-profile tires. But even still, how do you go through a tire every couple weeks?!? What are you doing to that poor car! My dad's cars have tires even lower than yours and has never had a tire loss in years, and he is, shall we say... a very spirited driver? You just have bad roads in your area?

Yeah, the streets in NYC are very bad. I don't understand why either. NYC has so much money, but it never gets spent on bettering our streets and major highways.

I remember once blowing both my front tires on the Major Deegan near Yankee stadium...they had done construction and put metal plates on the ground, and I hit 3 of them in a row. No signs or anything were posted, and I didn't get warning because of an 18 wheeler in front of me. :(

I am going to give PepBoys a call later today. I really want to put new rims on my car already. :)

pretty much
they'll make any excuse to not honor it, they'll say it was a tread defect, even if the tread is pristine and the sidewall has a hole
and then if you convince them, they'll prorate it, so you'll be lucky to get $10 or $20 against your new tire that they'll sell to you for full price
