The LOTR Audiobooks, are they the whole books? 12 CDs are about 18 hours but I don't think I could read the whole first book in 18 hours. So?

Check out the case. If it says "unabridged" on it anywhere, it's the whole book. Abridged means they shortened it by leaving stuff out.

It depends. Some are abridged, and not the full book. Some are unabridged, and are the full book.
