Are Atom netbook CPUs upgradeable?

IMO a dual-core CPU would be a nice upgrade for just about any netbook owner.

Can this be done?

No. Soldered or plugged is irrelevant. They are different size, use different voltages, and require different mobo chipsets, etc., etc. Again . . . no!

They are soldered to the motherboard.

The dual-core atom processors that are avaialble for desktops also come soldered and are sold as a CPU+MB combo.

Oh and to add to that, the Atom 330 (dual core) is not available in any notebooks nor do I think it will ever be.

Eventually but not anytime soon. They are still trying to protect the low end notebook market.
