Are ATI Catalyst drivers multithreaded like Nvidia's?

By multithreaded... do you mean that when I open Task Manager I should see two instances of ati2evxx.exe and CLI.exe running? I only noticed them after I installed the Catalyst 6.8 drivers from ATI's website.

That's multitasking, I think. And why do ATI need's multiple CLI.exe instance?

do you disable Hot Key or SMART GART too?

Its not like it matters, unless you're playing at 800x600 or some other CPU limited res. DC CPU's does nothing for resolutions that people actually use.

I thought they offloaded some of the tasks to the second core?

I doubt very much you'll notice any difference as almost all modern games are limited by pixel shader performance, and there's nothing any number of cpu cores can do about it.

Benchmarks at any sort of high res, such as 1280x1024 show no performance gain. The only gain you'll get is if your shrinking a DVD or the like while gaming.
