Are Athlon64 memory controllers known to go bad?

I had endless problems with BSOD's, lockups and Prime95 failing. It turns out my mobo and ram were fine and the A64 3500+ Clawhammer was the problem(process of elimination). It seems the onboard memory controller was bad, as no ram would run stable at 200mhz, DDR400 in dual or single channel. I RMA'd the chip after getting a 3500+ Winchester from here.

Has anybody else had issues with A64's onboard memory controller?
