Can anyone answer this guestion for me? When I went into the bios to change the multiplier the bus speed didn't change from 133. Uh maybe I'm just confused, and I hope I am. Let me know, thanks.

I'm too lazy to check your rig but what mobo are you on? They are factory unlocked by default. It varies from mobo to mobo.

I have the Asus A7N8X Deluxe. I purchased all my computer parts from Newegg except my memory which I got from Muskin.

I've read about and most of them were unlocked on the A7N8X board. Try searching in the mobo section. You might need a particular BIOS version to do that.

Do you know which Athlon core your 1700+ is? Only the Tbred-B cores can be unlocked by the Nforce2 (asus A7N8X). The shipping BIOS (.G) on the Asus A7N8X also doesnt seem to unlock the multiplier. So you'll have to try the .E version or the new Beta BIOS. I am using the .E without any problems, and I havnt tried the beta.

Do a search for the A7N8X I asked these questions about a week ago on here, you'll find the anwers your looking for in there.

Good luck

when you change the multiplier the bus speed doesn't change
you must manually change the bus speed yourself

I think only one of the 6 nforce2 boards out there doesn't have the nvidia APU...soundstorm or whatever its called

And for some reason I keep thinking its Abit...I think I'm wrong though...

but i don't see why a manufacterer wouldn't use the mcp-t southbrigdge

I just bought 3 1700XPs for some boxes I'm building. All from separate places, all are NOT factory unlocked. None of these are used with nForce2 based boards so I assume that's the reason.

I just wanted to let yall know that my Athlon is unlocked. However, in the BIOS the multiplier is locked. When I go into the BIOS the multiplier always says the default: 6.0. However, today I have OC my Athlon 1700+ which runs at 1470 to 1840!!! And the multiplier reads 11 in windows, even though it still says 6.0 in the BIOS.

Yes, I have gone from 1.47 to 1.84 today!! My fsb is at 166 and the temp. of my CPU is only at 36. I have the VCore at 1.7 in the BIOS and now in windows Prime95 says there is a hardware failure. The computer hasn't frozen yet. So I am either going to turn the fsb down or increase the VCore voltage. Any suggestions would be wonderful. I would like to hit 2.0, but if I can get 1.84 to run first that would be AWESOME!! Thanks.

I would be weary of pushing the voltage further than 1.75v unless you want to risk damaging the CPU. You can goto 1.8 if you are feeling daring, but I wouldn't do it if I were you.
