Are Asus monitors garbage or is this just bad luck (2 with bad pixels)

So a while back I bought two Asus 21.5" monitors at Staples, I wanted them now so I bought locally, and I also wanted an easy option to return as I was trying something and did not know if it would work.

Well one monitor is ok, the other one had a stuck pixel. So I returned it, and left it at that. Decided to go buy another, lo and behold, this one has a dead pixel. WTF? Is this a case of bad luck, or are these things garbage? Either way I'm probably stuck with the first one given I've had it for more than 30 days since purchase so I don't really have a choice but to get the same model again.

Anything I can do about this, or is returning it again the only way? I'm just scared they both start to develop dead pixels later down the line, now I'll really be screwed.

Just glad I bought locally otherwise returning would be a bigger pain in the ass, and online retailers can be hit and miss with returns sometimes.

The only thing I'd ever buy from Asus is a ROG motherboard. Warranty service is too dicey on their other product lines.

I'd say you were just unlucky, although you didn't mention what model your monitors were. Keep in mind that if you bought the cheapest ones in the store, the failure rate is almost certainly going to be higher then with a high end model.

Its also worth mentioning that bad pixels are a pretty common defect with new monitors, regardless of brand.

just unlucky, and asus doesn't make panels.. they create design, electronics in monitors, but not panels themselves

Asus markets price point and features. They certainly aren't "the best money can buy", but they are good quality for what you pay.

Asus monitor suck!! I received 2 23.6" Asus VS247H-P damaged monitors which I sent back because they were all scratched and badly marked ! so I thought screw it I will get a refund and try another monitor so I went for the asus vn247h from another company got the monitor and 2 dead pixels! sent it back and got refunded held out for a wee bit and decided to go for another asus vn247h which I have now.

This one 3 months in has a dead pixel also notcied a little chip on the screen asus are blaming me and also the place I bought it from said they can't do nothing since they can't claim of the courier so basically it came brand spaking new not opened untouched yet it's the couriers fault??? it's clearly been shipped like that. I wish I noticed the chip sooner i generally thought it was a dirty mark until I went to wipe it and it didn't budge. Asus are a joke and so are there customer service.

All you have to do is type in asus 280x problems on youtube or anything asus related. There monitor picture is really good but if they didn't have monkeys working for them then they would be a whole lot better but clearly there's something not right. People have received gpu's with bent capacitors and they managed to get an rma but I ain't aloud one because of a slight chipped screen??? don't get it!.

We have three Asus monitors (all 27") in our home, one of which is nearly 5 years old. No problems with any of them. I've been very happy with all three (both price and performance).

I've had 2 ASUS monitors with defects upon purchase, were replaced on the same day at store.

Recently bought a VN248H-P 23" IPS from the egg. Aside from the wobbly stand (not an issue if on a firm surface) the monitor looks great. Not a single dead pixel. Great colors, pleasant right out of the box.

I've had two ASUS monitors also with no problems. I've recommended the brand to two of my friends as well who wanted something affordable but decent, and both of their panels are flawless. The stands kinda suck but that's what a "nice" $250 monitor buys you.

my asus has a bad pixel, but i also happened to gouge that part of the monitor with a screwdriver by accident, so I can hardly blame asus =D

Guess it was just bad luck then. I have bad luck in general when it comes to defective products so not really all that surprising. I can't build a computer without having to RMA at least one part.

Considering it's not my main monitor and I'm not looking at this one all the time I just decided to say screw it and live with it, I just have having to pack it all up again and then wait. They only keep one in stock at a time.

I've got two Asus monitors running in our house right now. One is well over 5 years old and that particular one began failing one (1) month before the warranty ran out.

Now, I'd had two horrible experiences with Asus gpu's and RMA service, but took a chance on the Asus service on the monitor...figured what the heck, it's not working anyway. Amazingly, it came back in 8 days after sending it out, completely fixed and cleaned and has been in service for at least 2 years since its repair.

Given that the Asus monitors have their service center in a different location than the gpu service center, thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised and wouldn't hesitate to recommend an Asus monitor to anyone, even taking into consideration having to use their RMA service.

Wouldn't buy another Asus gpu to save your life, but so far, over the past decade or so, their motherboards, monitors, and laptops we've owned have been great.

My Asus TN monitor for gaming is 4 to 5 years old,no issues or dead pixels but then I paid a little extra for pixel check when I ordered it online.

End of the day I think it's just bad luck you have.
