Are Asus mobos really always very stable and have pretty few compat. issues?

I have owned ten or so over the years for various Intel CPUs and thats been my experience. I believe the experience on the AMD side is pretty much the same. Asus is quality stuff.

That's what I've heard; of course, there's always going to be some that have issues...but the majority of them are very good.

Asus is the largest Motherboard manufactuer in the world and therefore very influential. Most of the their boards are above average when compared to similiarly featured boards. Feature-wise, I would have to say ASUS is the leader but stability-wise, Intel is the leader. Recently there was a story about Intel contracting Asus to produce boards due to increased demand. That should say a lot about Asus right there!

Kinda true but if you run both at stock speeds ( no OC for Asus) and similar chipset timings (Intel usually uses conservative settings), I doubt you will see any differences in stability. Both have long warranties (3 years) so its a toss.

I've had 2 systems based on Asus boards and they've both been stable with no compatability problems.

First ASUS mobo i ever owned is residing in my current machine (P4PE) and all I can say is im very happy with everything from stability, to features and O/C ability.

Although I've only had one ASUS mobo (P2B BX Slot 1), it's been chugging along nicely ever since. My dad's using the system and it's never failed him. He's kinda a heavy user as well.

I've had my share of duds from Asus, but for the most part, they've been pretty reliable. I've also had an excellent track record with Epox as well.

Overall, Asus boards are solid, if pricey. Every maker turns out a lemon now and then-- a friend has one of the original a7v Asus boards, which sux, desperately, imho....

Asus does an excellent job with their attention to detail. Everything from the documentation, included cables, jumpers, case badges...you just know you are getting a quality product. They also offer some of the most feature comprehensive boards on the market.

Soemthing else to consider is that Asus boards have a 3 year warranty, RMAing them is usually no trouble at all.

Asus is a quality board maker... always good stuff, and usually if there are any issues they have em fixed with a new BIOS ASAP. Ive owned about 7 Asus board from Socket 7 to Super 7 to Slot A and a few others.. all have been quality boards. I did have a A7V die on me once, however I just sent it in to Asus and had a new board in my hands 2 weeks later.

I'm still using mine.

It started in 1999 with a Celeron 366, which was running at 412 a little later. It has been running a Celeron 533A@800+ for the past 2 years.

Asus is one of the best motherboard makers.

my experiences with them are mixed.
i've used more than one model (that's an understatement - i've actually used like 15 different Asus boards) and some have been real good, while others are just so-so.
never had a total POS from them.. but some are not so great.

Asus is not the best board maker in the world on a durability/dependabilty basis IMHO.. I've loved the offerings I have used from MSI and Soltek just as much.. Gigabyte is another so-so.. some are good, some aren't.

boards like the A7V were a huge pain in the ass, and other makers made better KT133 boards for compatibility. those were real rough sometimes. so not everything they make is golden.. but some of it is i guess.....

what do i have to say? it's one of the best boards i've ever used in my life!!!

rock solid, no issues in any way shape or form.. 100% pleased with their product.
their support is awesome.. i sent them an email regarding a BIOS update for TBred CPU's (approx ETA) and they emailed me back in an HOUR! usually it's what, 3 days? 1 hour response time.. i told them i would buy their product again no question in my mind.

I sound like a Soltek salesman. but i could be!!

Asus makes quality motherboards, but at the same time so does MSI, Gigabyte and Epox. I know of people who just go with one manufacturer and thats it. That's a bit ignorant in my opinion. When a different chipset is released, another manufacturer may have a better implementation over the other. That is why we have reviews and this forum to help us decide.

Last year a friend of mine had his asus mobo die on him less than a week after getting it. Something was definately wrong with the bios chip; part of it was discolored. They said no problem, send it back for a replacement. He did, unfortunately they sent exactly the same board back to him. The whole ordeal ended up taking well over a month to work out. I'm not saying this is typical, just that Asus is no better than many other mobo manufacturers. I wouldn't spend more simply for the name.

No company is 100% devoid of technical problems, but ASUS comes as close as you can get. ASUS motherboard provide very stable power signals. ASUS boards are usually a bit more expensive than the competition, but you can't go wrong with ASUS. Not only are they stable boards, but ASUS boards have a history of innovation and nifty features.
