meaning - if i wanted even better performance, what switch should I swap for my linksys EZXS88W?

i just moved from a hub to switch and am really happy with the performance - i'm just curious if i would see much more gain by moving to a different switch.

i mainly ftp and stream movies to my modded xbox via cat5.

a gigabit switch that supports jumbo frames. this would need to be supported at the client side as well.

but, seeing as the xbox only handles 100mb, i think you should be set with your current solution.

You should divulge what Performance means to you.

As far as 10/100 goes, it does not matter.

If you decide to go Giga, your local File transfer would be faster, it would not make the Internet faster, nor make you a better gamer.

Currently there are differences between Entry Level Giga Switches, some are performing only very little over 10/100.

The best bet is the SMC with Jumbo Frames.
