Do a search and you will find all the info you need. But as rbV5 said, it all depends on the motherboard. Nforce2 boards seem to have unlocked the T-breds, and some KT400 boards do the same.
asus doesnt with the "official" bios, but with a beta one i believe i read it does
the reviewers were sent boards wtih the beta bios, while the customers received the "official" bios...
you can download the beta bios
1001.002 i think it was
It appears that all Tbred Bs are unlocked and probably all current As. Not all mobos access the 5th multiplier properly so as to get all multipliers. There are mods to get around it.
I ordered a Asus A7N8X-2L Nforce2 SPP. Corsair PC3200 CL2 XMS. IBM 180GXP....yum yum
I know the new MB bios can set the multipliers just like my current A7V133.
I never knew a MB can determine if a chip is locked or not.
I have a Athlon 1400C & 1200C chip that is factory unlocked and a Palimino 0.18 XP 1800+ that is locked. It does not matter into what mb i put them. Without a physical mod on the XP1800+ it will never get unlocked.
I know all MPs are unlocked...right ?
From what i gather all TBred-B chips are unlocked ...right ? and these include 2400+, 2600+ & 2800+ chips.
Are the 0.13 TBred-A chips locked like the 0.18 Paliminos ?
I can get hold of a cheap XP 2100+('ThoroughBred 0.13 Micron Core). Is this a TBred-A CPU ?
Should I go for the XP2100+ or wait until I can get hold of a Barton 2500+ and use the 1400C for a while ?
