Are AMD 1900 XP's supposed to work in Epox 8KHA's? Mine doesn't :(

I've been running a Tbird 1.33GHZ in my Epox 8KHA, and got my hands on one of the newer 1900 XP's (1.6ghz). Unfortuntaley, whenever I try to boot the PC with the 1900XP, I don't get a video signal and the PC itelf never makes a noise (like CDROM/HD's booting) other than it seemingly to turn on. I've been trying to access Epox's website and the damn thing is down, so I don't know quite what to do :(

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Sorry bud I think you are out of luck.

Apparently the 8kHA only supports Athlon and Durons. Looks like doesn't work with XP processors :(

I'm pretty sure thats the situation for the entire Via KT266 chipset lineup (cant those guys ever get anything right?)

Epox specs (cached via google since the site is down). I myself just got my 8KHA+ (which is XP compatible) hopefully I wont have to buy another motherboard to get the new 0.13 micron Xps.....

Actually the Epox 8KHA supports the XP processors,I was there yesterday at Epox site and it had them listed,I`m not sure about the XP 1900 + but would presume it should work ok.

Really? Interesting...the reason I started to suspect the 8KHA of not supporting XP processors is because I went toa couple retail sites and XP support was never listed, as it was with the 8KHA+...we'll see when the site gets back up I suppose.

Is your front side bus turned up past 133MHz. If so you might be overclocking your cpu too much.

You tried clearing your cmos?

Apparently somebody forgot to tell my 8KHA that because its been running fine for a month with an 1600XP and just recently put in a 2000XP.

My mistake I was just looking at the cached Epox site.

I suppose you could try a bios update.

Actually someone mentioned Epox has a funky problem with one of the multipliers.

Curious why you did not simply overclock that XP of yours instead of buying a new one.

Well, I just tried the newest BIOS update and all I've gained is the ability to hard-freeze within the first few minutes of operation. I've re-typed this post 3 times now. sigh :(

Darrin,

Someone sent me a link to a PDF file that shows a table of all Epox mobo's and the 8KHA does *not* support the 1900XP, but it *does* support up to 1800XP....so maybe this is the problem? But you say you're 2000XP is running fine. Are you 100% sure you have the 8KHA and not the 8KHA+?

ftp://ftp.epox.com/support/motherboard/cpu-support.pdf

Thanks

Try running your XP 1900+ @ 100 FSB and see what happens.

That would probably work but his cpu would be running at 1.2GHz then. He would be better off with his 1.3GHz Tbird. Esecially since the Tbirds seem to overclock more.

I think that`s your problem since at the Epox`s site on the CPU chart guide it shows support for your board up to XP 1800+,I would phone Epox and find out if you can run the 1900+ OK.
