I'm considering buying a Voodoo 5 for my Gateway 6400 (no AGP slot) and have been checking out the auction on egay. Some of the cards say they are for Macintosh but others don't specify. Were these cards produced only for macs or is there an IBM pci card also? Will the mac card work in an IBM?

I belive the pci slots are the same but the voodoo 5 have different BIOS's in them, I read something about people flashing a PC voodoo 5 pci with a mac bios but I dont remember if it worked.

Well, I remember reading someone flashed the BIOS successfully, but I would rather stay away from the Mac version.(BIOS flashing is a tricky business, where You do not want to do something wrong as it can be the cause of the death of Your card :()

Look for a real IBM PC version, should be out there...

It can be done, but unless you know what you're doing.....don't.

Get one with a pc bios.

I flahsed one. it was very easy, although the particuar card I have now has some refresh rate issues. I did it cause I was curious and the mac card was cheap ($65).
