Are ALL Universities idiotic?

I'd origonally applied for admission at the University of Victoria for a first choice of Computer Engineering (in the Engineering Faculty), and a second choice of Computer Science (also in the Engineering Faculty - with lower requirements). Finally, a week ago I was accepted into the Science Faculty (don't ask me how that happened - I didn't apply for that). I needed to wait till today till I could register for my classes (they wanted my $100 deposit). Today also happened to be the day that my Provincial Exam marks arrived. They were what the University was (supposidly) waiting for before I was accepted into the Engineering Faculty.

So I call the Engineering Admissions Officer to see if they will transfer me into the Faculty - only to be told that it is full.

I do my best to register for as many courses in Computer Science (which is less restricted than Computer Engineering as far as letting people from other faculties is concerned).

I call an advisor. The requirements for Computer Science are the same as the requirements for the Science Faculty. I *should* have been accepted into CS in the first place - but now it seems its too late to transfer in.

Almost ALL of the courses I need are restricted to being in the Engineering Faculty - which I should be in. My Provincial Exam marks were high enough that I should be accepted into Computer Engineering as well.

Bah.

Yeah, I know lots of people that go to UVic... they're aren't exactly on the ball when it comes to admissions. It's a matter of luck, really. Unless your average is 90 plus, then they'll bend over for you. I can't really comment on other universities, though, since there aren't many schools that get quoted on the reputation of their admissions department.

Just because your scores were high enough does not mean you get in!

Maybe everyone who was accepted was 'more qualified' than you. In any case you are in the school and you can probably transfer over in a semester or two...

Ahh, but I should be more qualified than most who applied for both Computer Science and Computer Engineering. In fact, I know a friend who was accepted for CE (he had most of the courses they look at finished in January so got early admission). His average is 7% lower than mine, and does not have as many things outside that to impress them. I've got my own web design company, and CCNA as well as a whole shalack of reference letters.

Of course, it looks like I'm going to have to waste a year (or at least a semester). 'Tis annoying.

Mwah. And the person who is suposidly in charge of transferring me into CS has been on her lunch break for 62 minutes.

;)
I can find fault(s) in everything.
