The guy that cuts my hair swears that the stuff ya buy in the stores is crap. He says it either strips your hair or weighs it down, depending on the product. He recommends products you can only buy at a salon, and not necessarily his. He doesn't care where, but as long as its from a salon.

So whats the deal? Fact or Fiction?

Fiction.

20/20 did a piece about shampoos. they all have the same base detergents. it the color, scent and consistancy that makes them different.

Edit, go to a barber next time.

Sodium Laurel Sulfate causes cancer, which is used in most shampoos

Just thought I'd let ya'll know

I agree; however, salon brand gels/creams/pomades,etc might be a little better because they evidently have added moisturizers and less alcohol (for gels that is) to prevent your hair from drying out.

The best thing to do is to NOT wash your hair at all. washing strips it of essential oils needed to maintain it.

Think about this: if you look at old photos (1800s - early 1900s) most of the guys have their hair. But now a days, it seems like everyone is getting bald. My hypothesis is that people washed their shiet less and put less chemicals in their hair than people do now, therefore they have more hair.

Discuss!
